*The Card Security Code (CSC), sometimes called Card Verification Value or Code (CVV or CVC), is a security feature for credit or debit card transactions, giving increased protection against credit card fraud. The CSC (also known as a CCID or Credit Card ID) is often asked for by merchants so that they can secure "card not present" transactions occurring over the Internet, by mail, fax or over the phone. In many countries in Western Europe, due to increased attempts at card fraud, it is now mandatory to provide this code when the cardholder is not present in person.

BIS Research Fees Changed On July 1, 2006

On July 1, 2006, we will be changing our research fees. Instead of billing per number of citations and abstracts provided, we will be billing based on time spent on the search and rush level. Our new fees will be: Delivery within 6 hrs: $120/hr Delivery within 24-48 hrs: $80/hr Delivery within 3-5 days: $70/hr Delivery within 1-2 weeks: $60/hr Hours will be prorated into 15 minute increments, and the minimum search cost will be $15. If we don't own the particular publication you need, we can try to obtain a photocopy of an article or chapter for you from another source. Unfortunately we cannot borrow original items, including books, theses, videos,etc. from other sources for you.

Standard Service*

$10.00 plus incurred charges, copyright (if applicable) and delivery. Estimated range $30.00 - $50.00 per article.

Rush Service*

$20.00 plus incurred charges, copyright (if applicable) and delivery. Estimated range $50.00 - $70.00 per article.

Terms, Conditions, and Copyright Policy

Beginning July 1st, 2005, the Biomedical Information Service (BIS) will pay copyright royalties on every document we supply. The royalties will be paid to rights holders through the Transactional Reporting Service of the Copyright Clearance Center (CCC). Copyright will be charged in addition to current BIS fees, which have not changed. You can check the royalty charge for specific journal titles at the Copyright Clearance Center's Website

Classes Services

Through the Biomedical Information Service, people unaffiliated with the University can participate in the classes offered at the Bio-Medical Library, or arrange to have a customized class or consultation onsite at their company or organization.
Library Staff provide instruction in library use, database searching, information management, and effective use of the Internet.
